Hunting for Heroes Act: Tennessee National Guard Sportsman License

The Hunting for Heroes Act (SB 2238 / HB 2550) establishes a no-cost annual Tennessee National Guard Sportsman License for eligible Tennessee Army and Air National Guard members.

 

The license provides the same hunting, fishing, and trapping privileges as the resident Annual Sportsman License without the annual license fee.

 

How to Apply:

 

STEP 1: Complete the Tennessee Military Department’s online Sportsman License request form:

Eligible Soldiers and Airmen are submitted to TWRA four times each year:

October 1 • December 1 • March 1 • June 1

 

You can complete the form anytime. Information must be received at least 7 business days before a submission date or it will be included in the next cycle.

 

STEP 2: Beginning the day after the applicable submission date, visit:

https://gooutdoorstennessee.com/

Under Licensing, select “Go to Site” and search “TN Nation Guard Sportsman License.” Follow the instructions to checkout. 

 

A paper application may also be completed and taken to a TWRA regional office.

Important: The license is valid for one year. If your license is approaching expiration, begin the reapplication process in advance.
